LX cpio: MD5 sum mismatch
rpm reports cpio: MD5 sum mismatch on installing the copy of libgcc_s.so.1 that OOo2 makes during its build. To work around after creating the rpms use –no-md5 on rpm’s –install.

LX Console beeps / PC speaker on/off
1. Xfree
In Xfree you can turn the PC-speaker bell on and off with the xset commands option b - manual page
Example:
xset b off
2. Console
To turn off the pc speaker on console mode use setterm with the argument blength - manual page
Example (turns it off):
setterm -blength 0
